Paul Staal is 47 years old, and employed in ING Domestic  Netherlands Lending Department as XBRL/Standard business Reporting Manager. He is Chairman of the Financial Reporting Cooperation (a joint venture of ABN AMRO, Rabobank and ING) working group of SBR Banking Taxonomy,  and has a seat in the FRC working groups Operationalisation and Quality.

He is a  member of several  SBR/XBRL working groups and taskforces representing  the FRC (e.g.  the FRC in  the Government Expert groups on XBRL data , the General Accounting Scheme working groups and the task force SBR private extensions).

Paul started his banking career with Westland Utrecht  as a project manager. After  a few years he went to ING and worked for five years in the controlling department. He shifted  to the General Lending department and worked world wide on the development of lending policies. He was asked to be business owner of the Dutch SME lending models and worked last years  for to the Domestic Netherlands Lending department. In this role he wrote the ING business case for  implementing XBRL in the lending process and now he is working fully dedicated on the  subject of SBR for banks.

Paul has done different studies;  a  masters degree (M.A.) in Education( at Utrecht University), graduating with two majors: Information Technology and Business Economics, a Bachelors Degree (B.A.) in General Social Sciences, Utrecht University. He did several courses marketing management (Master degree),  project management (IPMA, Prince -2) and studied process management. He became a Lean six sigma black belt in 2014.

Paul is married to his wonderful wife Karen he is proud father of three boys; Maurits, Robbert and Quinten.
